An excerpt from an incredible association with Shaykh Hisham Kabbani of the Naqshbandi Sufi Order, a world expert on Sufism. He is the son-in-law of Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani, the Naqshbandi Order’s Master. “Hadra” in Arabic means “presence”, and refers to the heavenly, ecstatic spiritual presence that Sufis often feel during such worship.
ABRAHAM’S CHILDREN is an adventure road-movie in the footsteps of prophets, mystics, visionaries and peacemakers. Journeying from the ancient deserts of the Middle East through Medieval Spain and Morocco, and from North America into Israel and Palestine, this personal quest was undertaken to rediscover the rich legacy of tolerance and harmony that united the Jewish and Muslim peoples for countless centuries. Along the way we uncover profound traces of this unity, and we meet compelling figures who today work to restore the bridges between these two communities. Collectively, their voices assert that for peace to be achieved, both the Jews and the Muslims must remember their roots as being one and the same, tracing back to their common forefather Abraham. Ultimately, the voice in this film suggest that if humanity is to find peace, there cannot be any peoples excluded from this sacred promise.

no spin alley, no lights, no entourage, no pulpit Continue Reading »
The fabulous final scene of Pudovkin’s 1929 quasi-documentary epic masterpiece “Storm Over Asia,” about the clash between traditional life and modernization. The final 3 minutes of the film (beginning at 3 minutes on this video clip) is an unforgettable and stunning example of Russian montage, showing truely expressive style and a brilliant, powerful use of the medium. May God bless his soul.
